Primarily, this is not a book about the Bronze Age. Rather, this study is the product of a strong ambition to form a better understanding of the ways in which interpretations of a particular prehistoric period are formed. Nevertheless, it is the result of a long-term aspiration to understand the dynamic relations between people, landscape and material culture of the Bronze Age in southern Scandinavia.

It is also the product of a desire to investigate the possibilities of analyzing a local Bronze Age landscape from a social practice perspective. Furthermore, the study stems from a desire to discuss what sort of an archaeological knowledge our theoretical perspectives produce - and how that knowledge is used in our present society.
